Center for American Progress

Progressives and the National Debt

Consequences and Solutions

About This Event

Economists, budget analysts, lawmakers and policy experts will gather for a conference convened by The Center for American Progress (CAP) and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) to discuss the medium and long term dangers that large budget deficits pose to the United States’ post-recovery economy and to the progressive agenda.

Amid growing public concern over deficits and debt, this conference is designed to lay the intellectual groundwork for efforts – once the economy has fully recovered – to address the nation’s unsustainable fiscal path without abandoning important policy aims.
